The Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) was formed in 1994 and incorporated in 1995 and is currently incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act. It is the professional snowboard teaching body in Canada with its Head Office located in Cambridge, Ontario.

People who wish to become members of CASI must attend and pass a Level 1 Instructor certification course, which are held at various locations across Canada each winter. Upon becoming a member, each person will receive the latest information on technique and teaching methods via regular newsletters and clinics.
CASI certification is comprised of four levels. Level 1 is an introductory course designed to teach Instructors how to introduce snowboarding to beginning riders. Level 2 stresses more the intermediate level of riding skills. The Level 3 focuses on the advanced, and the Level 4 focuses on expert riding techniques, teaching and training skills.

“To promote the sport of snowboarding, snowboard instruction and the profession of snowboard teaching in Canada by training and certifying snowboard instructors to ensure that a national standard of safe and efficient snowboard instruction is maintained.”

CASI is one of the only professional snowboard instruction certification bodies in the world that is run entirely by snowboarders. It has a seven-member national Board of Directors; six elected by the membership, plus the Executive Director (who is a non-voting member). The Board conducts CASI’s affairs and business, which are then administered by the Executive Director.

CASI has a National Technical Team to assist in the technical operation of CASI. The team is made up of 5-7 team members and is coached by our National Technical Coordinator (NTC) and Technical Assistant (TA). The purpose of the Tech Team is to make decisions regarding course content, manual content, and technical doctrine and to make those recommendations to the Board of Directors for approval
